• Painful QSO on the ECR

From Rug Rat@1:135/250 to All on Fri Jun 5 23:49:00 2026
Man, heard a painful QSO on the East Coast Reflector tonight.

There was a DX station from Austrailia trying to have a QSO, and one of the users kept asking him for his email address, the Austrailian ham repeatedly told the gentleman that he was blind, did not own a computer, had never seen the QRZ website.

This idiot kept asking him for his email address, tried to explain how to add his email address, or make it public on QRZ, etc...

I know I wanted to beat my head against the wall, I can not imagine what the bloke in AUS was thinking!

Part of communication is learning to LISTEN, not just pushing the PTT and talking.

Like someone running split DXand some idiot is busy trying to call the
    station on the output frequency.

I hear (and see on digital) so many lids these days, sadly.

Never heard of running split on FT4 or 8, not even sure why would you do that.... I know FTx is not the only game in town, but I do not hear much activity any more using other modes, except for contests!

Oh, I meant split on SSB...

I hear a lot of activity in the afternoon and evenings on other modes. FT8 does not interest me in the least.

And that.... IS perfectly OK. That is the nice thing about Amateur Radio, there is something for everyone!

That's precisely why I love amateur radio also.
