When Avon gets back or reviews messages, we might have issues in the
long run. Let us be mindful if we can.
I know an activity boost may be good, but we should not be chasing
people of either side out of the network due to this.
Even when I made a reply I self-censored myself because I knew I would have caused a huge uproar. However on other networks you could read
that commentary.

Yeah, this morning was the first time I thought about skipping past FSX_GEN. It'll be nice to get back to the original intent of this network.
I wonder if there should be a new echo where rules are loosened and political discussions are allowed. Then any such discussions and flame wars can go on there, and those who aren't interested can easily skip it.

Probably not a bad idea. Though I'd still worry about these racist and relat posts under the umbrella of "political".
Sounds like you worry alot... Does your BBS software not have a "Next" key,

Really pulling hard at straws, are we?

Maybe...
The anti-politics ruling "here" was simply a result of one leftist anti-American Sysop having an effeminate meltdown over a case of being able to dish it out but couldn't take it in return. He whined to Avon about it, Avon unfortunately took the "Aww shucks" approach (instead of the "Grow a pair" approach). The ruling was made but the crybaby
vanished months later...

There have been plenty of leftist crybabies show up to replace him, and even the American ones are anti-American.
It does seem to work - Fido has their political echo, and the people who want to make a stink mostly stick there.
I *strongly* suspect the reason that they never do is because they like
to run and hide behind the FSX "but politics isn't allowed" rule once they've started an obviously political-adjacent conversation that
doesn't go their way, and speech is too free in those forums for their tastes.

Be prepared for the "HELP IM BEING CENSORED!!!!!" crowd when asked to
post elsewhere.
I'd like to be in a forum where people can wish each other a Happy Pride month, and it not receive a rant.
I'd like to be in a forum where people can wish each other a Merry Christmas, and it not receive a rant.

You do you, but I want the forum with the well wishes, not the
political rants.
If that makes me naive / sheltered / whatever pejorative you want
to use, fine, but those political areas _suck_, and I don't go
there because they _suck_. And I get a bit fired up about it here, because, when this place is filled with well wishes, personal
stories, and hobby talk, it's delightful.
And that's the forum I want to participate in.

I think most agree with you here, for sure.
I certainly do. What I didn't agree with was when people started throwing around "privilege" and other buzzwords... you know, political concepts.

White privilege isn't a buzzword, nor a political concept.
The political part didn't start with someone wishing someone else a
Happy Pride Month. The "political-adjacent" part got kicked off good
and well after that.

Regardless of accuracy of that statement, I don't see any compelling reasons for why white privilege discussions belong here.
Certainly, it's an academic concept to explain certain things that
happen in the world. But people talking about their personal lives can probably avoid using by talking about actual things.
E.g., instead of talking about "male privilege", I could talk about
having a guy groping my leg in public transport, or getting stared at, asked rude questions, or commented upon.
...not that I want to talk about _that_, either.

It's like you're not even aware of what you're writing, somehow.
Are you related to NuSkooler, by any chance?
