So apparently Trump has offered to pay every adult US citizen a
$5000 'Dividend' if the republicans win the November elections..

I assume he's not talking his own money since this would cost
something like $1.23 TRILLION and, at that rate, I doubt it's
coming from even just the Republican Party so it makes you
wonder where the public will assume this money is coming from?

Obviously if this were even remotely legal, the funds would
just increase the US debt to later be a burden on taxpayers so
it's really their own money.. Get it now and repay it later..

But it's just another of those things that you have to stop
    and scratch your head about..

    Another Trump first..
Publicly buying votes with taxpayer money.. B)

I am sure it will be as true a promise as the DOGE refunds and several other things that have never happened.

I am not at all surprised at this point, unfortunately. :(

"Trump's $5,000 midterm 'dividend' is at least his fourth promise of cash for all Americans. None
    came to pass."

"First it was a "DOGE dividend." Then it was a promise of tariff checks. Then government healthcare
refunds were on the way. Now, President Trump is promising Americans another payout, this time if
Republicans win in the coming midterm elections.

I certainly HOPE Americans think about that (false) promise.

He has done it so many times I couldn't remember what the other ones were. Thanks for the reminder.

I wonder if T followers will be so gullible as to believe him this time too. And.. while they are among the many millions of citizens struggling with high costs of everything, I wonder if they will still actually vote for him.

I had not heard this one yet!

I wondered if the publicity would be widespread down there yet.
I suppose it's a bigger story up here since we are more removed
from things there and find a lot of what Trump does 'entertaining'.

I suspect it would be restricted to registered Republican adults. :D

The published information about it did not suggest that.
After all, he's losing so many Repubican voters he'll need to
pick up some Democrats if he can.. B)

It wasn't even linked to voters. It was to every adult if they
win a majority in November mid-terms.

Yes, he talks about all the good he's doing but all most people
see on both sides of the border is higher prices.

It seems a lot of what he promises tends to vanish once it comes time
for the 'regular' people to reap any benefits..

I certainly HOPE Americans think about that (false) promise.

I think he greatly wants to be remembered as one of the biggest
presidential names in history, and he may well be, just not in
the way he hopes to be remembered..

I wonder if T followers will be so gullible as to believe him this time too.

To be honest, I am not sure that the most fervent ones believe him or even care that it won't ever happen. To be real honest, some of them just want to be on the side that they perceive is "winning." Should he ever stop "winning," those that won't be likely to start chanting "cheating" will probably stop supporting him (at least publicly).

And.. while they are among the many millions of citizens struggling with high
costs of everything, I wonder if they will still actually vote for him.

In this election, they won't be voting for him so much as the politicians who support him and/or are endorsed by him.

The ardent followers will. Those who are single-issue (like Pro-Life) will. I think his side has lost a lot of farmers and others. Since there is no one at the top of the other ticket, like there was in 2024, there won't be anyone to cast votes against this time, which won't help his cause.

I suppose it's a bigger story up here since we are more removed
from things there and find a lot of what Trump does 'entertaining'.

I am sure I just missed it. A quick search shows that the Associated Press, and other outlets, did cover it 3 days ago.

I suspect it would be restricted to registered Republican adults. :D

The published information about it did not suggest that.
After all, he's losing so many Republican voters he'll need to

I don't see that happening. :D He might pick up some so-called Independents that are really Republicans and/or MAGA. I would think a Democrat would need to be really upset with their candidate to cross over. I would suspect them to be more likely to not vote if that is the case.

It wasn't even linked to voters. It was to every adult if they
win a majority in November mid-terms.

I see that now. Will never happen, even if they win.

I am sure it will be as true a promise as the DOGE refunds and
    >several other things that have never happened.

Yes, he talks about all the good he's doing but all most people
see on both sides of the border is higher prices.

Sometimes when I listen to him I think he is talking about things that were accomplished during his first term. He did accomplish some things before COVID hit. Gas prices were down from where they'd been before, and prices on most things in general were either down or steady. That was a long time ago, though, and most of what he's accomplished since 2024 hasn't really helped the average American much.

The exceptions being if you were smart and started putting money in a 401K (or other investments) many moons ago, or if you have money to put in the stock market and have been able to keep up with what the insider trader congresspeople/other administration members are buying and selling.
