There was a terrible 'wild' situation at a military training
base in Wainwright, Alberta this week.
They were doing some sort of manouvers in an open grassy area
and there was an existing grass fire they knew about not too
far away but it was not seen as a threat. Then it suddenly took
off and I believe the current totals are 7 soldiers dead and 36
wounded, close to 20 in critical condition.
When I heard about it I wondered how something like that is
even possible but as it turned out, when the fire took off, it
was moving across the ground at close to 60 MPH, so it
obviously could not be out-run.. Unbelievable..

The news we heard here was that there was also an explosion, or>multiple explosions, that may have been related to what the troops
Also saw one report that suggested the explosions could have been natural>gas related, as there are also multiple pipelines/resources in that area.

The newest reports just a couple of hours ago said that there
were no explosions, gas or munitions, after the fire went wild.
Originally some practice with grenade launchers had started a
grass fire but it was near impossible to get at it so the fire
service was really just 'keeping an eye on it'.
suddenly changed direction and picked up enough to have the
fire sweep across the fields where the soldiers were training
at something like 56 MPH..
A lot of blame is being tossed around in several directions..

Maybe that is where the subject of explosions entered the stories
