Areas affected...parts of northeast/north-central AR
Concerning...Tornado Watch 166...
Valid 280346Z - 280445Z
The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 166 continues.
SUMMARY...An intense supercell across north-central Arkansas will
shift east into northeastern portions of the state over the next 1-2
hours. A strong (EF-2+) tornado will be possible with this storm.
DISCUSSION...A supercell is ongoing across Stone County Arkansas
late this evening. This cell has exhibited strong rotation and a TDS
recently. The downstream environment is strongly unstable, with
MLCAPE near 3000-3500 J/kg and 0-1 SRH greater than 300 m2/s2.
Furthermore, this storm is moving into an area of effective STP
between 8 and 10. Meanwhile, the VWP from LZK indicates a favorable
wind profile for continues storm organization within this strongly
unstable and strongly sheared environment. This cell may continue to
pose a risk for strong tornadoes as it develops east over the next
1-2 hours.
