Areas affected...Much of Arkansas
Concerning...Tornado Watch 177...
Valid 290029Z - 290230Z
The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 177 continues.
SUMMARY...Scattered severe storms continue to track across Arkansas
this evening, with a risk of large hail, damaging winds, and a few
tornadoes.
DISCUSSION...Three distinct clusters of intense storms continue to
track eastward across AR, over Van Buren, Yell, and Hempstead
counties. These storms will likely persist eastward across WW177
for several more hours, where moderate CAPE and sufficiently strong
low-level shear will maintain the risk of supercells and a few
tornadoes. Strong tornadoes are possible if more discrete storm
modes develop. The LZK VAD is sampling the strengthening wind
fields, now showing over 500 m2/s2 of 0-3 SRH and STP values over 5.
Increased warm advection/lift has led greater coverage of storms in
the past 2 hours. This activity will spread eastward and to the
west of WW177 this evening, likely requiring a new watch in the next
hour or two over eastern AR/west TN and northern MS.
